Jamie Oliver - Veggie Bolognese, Loadsa Veg, Lentils and Parmesan

Veggie Bolognese, Loadsa Veg, Lentils and Parmesan (441 calories) Recipe Book: Jamie Oliver - Superfood Family Classics  Review: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Wow! Impressed! For those who have followed this page since it started in 2017, you’ll know that I love meat 🥩. I’ll do a few veggie recipes, but ultimately I’ll never make a good vegetarian I’m too fussy. This recipe however is excellent. It’s not a quick one to make, save it for a weekend,  it’s pretty easy but wow the taste is great, I even didn’t notice the absence of meat as it had a good texture and it must be the porcini mushrooms that gave it the meaty flavour (granted all veg and mushrooms were chopped finely in the processor so I couldn’t pick them out!). Aga conversion: I softened the veg in the Aga sauté pan with lid on the floor of the simmering oven. Added the Chianti and the rest with the pan on the boiling plate. Moved it uncovered to the floor of the simmering oven for the final 35 minutes.  Pasta I cooked in a

Jamie Oliver - Cajun Sweet Potatoes

Cajun Sweet Potatoes (346 calories) Recipe Book: Jamie Oliver - 5 Ingredients  Review: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I absolutely loved these. I have to admit, I’ve got a thing for sweet potato 🍠. Putting Cajun spice on them takes them to a whole new level though. The garlic yoghurt sauce was pretty great too. Aga conversion: Roasting tray on middle set of runners in the Roasting Oven. I did mine for about 45 minutes as my oven was running hot. Will I make this again? Absolutely, I loved it.

Jamie Oliver - Cauliflower Cheese Pizza Pie

Cauliflower Cheese Pizza Pie (872 calories) Recipe Book: Jamie Oliver Veg (the latest book)  Review: 3-4 Stars! We had such high hopes for this one. This one wasn't quite as straight forward as I though it was going to be... I think last week I just had too much stuff on the go all at once.  The husband wasn't over keen on this one, for him he said the pizza base reminded him of Yorkshire Puddings. For some reason my sauce seemed to go runnier not thicker (it was thick when it went into the base) after I put it in the oven so mine did not come out in nice neat slices, it sort of cut with a nice crispy cut and then ran out everywhere whilst I'm rapidly trying to get it onto a plate. Has this happened to anyone else or is it just me? My opinion: as an entire dish that kind of fell apart - 3 stars - as separate parts - Cauliflower cheese...good....pizza base...good - 4 stars. Aga conversion: I used my 28cm saute pan to make this. I mainly used the simm

Jamie Oliver - Indian Style Chip Butty (470 Calories)

Indian Style Chip Butty (470 calories) Recipe Book: Jamie Oliver Veg (the latest book)  Review: 4 Stars! Finally! Back to better scores. I hate rating Jamie's recipes low as him and Nigella and Delia got me into cooking. This one was pretty easy to make and didn't take too much time. I did get a little confused as the photo of this looked like they were going to be smallish balls on those titchy rolls (which I didn't have). The recipe says it serves 4 and to make 4 balls so naturally my recipe should make 2 balls.... What actually happened... Didn't have any of those tiny little rolls (like in the photo) so used 2 small white finger rolls from Asda cut in to 2. Whilst making the chip filling in the pan the 2 balls I should be making looked massive! So I made them in to 4 instead, otherwise they wouldn't have fit on my now little buns! I used Asda Spicy Mango Chutney as that was what was in the cupboard. I couldn't locate a pomegranate so had to bu

Jamie Oliver - Allotment Cottage Pie (466 Calories)

Allotment Cottage Pie (466 calories) Recipe Book: Jamie Oliver Veg (the latest book)  Review: 2 Stars! Oh NO! Can't believe we have scored this one so low. We weren't keen on this at all. Maybe I did something wrong? It felt like there was something missing, don't ask me what....I don't know, I'm not a pro! It looked good, smelled good but just didn't hit the mark on taste. Maybe I'm too fussy? Annoying because I spent time on this recipe. Anyway, the mash potato bit was good - home grown potatoes of course. It's easy enough to make but time consuming so it's a day off recipe rather than a quick after work meal. Aga conversion: No conversion on this today as the Aga was off for my attempts at door liner upgrades...and that's another story! Will I make this again? Definitely Not. Jamie Oliver - Masala Stuffed Peppers (389 Calories)

Masala Stuffed Peppers (389 calories) Recipe Book: Jamie Oliver Veg (the latest book)  Review: 3.5 Stars! OK, so this one didn't score too highly. I'd had one of 'those' days and was rushing so by the time I sat down to eat, I didn't really feel like it. It wasn't difficult to make, but it wasn't a quick one either. It tasted good but definitely didn't blow me away, but as a meat eater who is sat eating stuffed peppers (a first!) it wasn't half bad. I had to skip on the fresh coriander as I'm one of those people who taste it differently to everyone else - it tastes like soap to me. I also only had little peppers so I used 3 (red, yellow and green) as they were so dinky and they stuffed nicely with all the filling. I mistakenly picked up salted pistachios but they were fine. Aga conversion: I used the roasting tray on the floor of the roasting oven to boil the potatoes then did the rest using the hot plates. Peppers were baked on t

Jamie Oliver - Sunshine Fusilli Pasta (388 Calories)

Sunshine Fusilli Pasta (388 calories) Recipe Book: Jamie Oliver Veg (the latest book)  Buy the book here  Buy the Kindle Version Review: 5 Stars! I can safely say that I was not expecting to score this recipe so highly. I am a hardened meat eater and don't particularly like or eat a whole lot of veg but I decided to really give it a go, so all this weeks recipes are coming out of this book. It was very quick to make, literally the 20 minutes as it states in the book. I made a half portion to serve 2. Mistakenly bought regular salted pistachios and it was fine. I blended the peppers, onions, garlic and cheese in my Kenwood Chef mini chopper attachment as the amount was pretty small and it fit just nicely. If I was making a serves 4 I might have to rethink this idea. Once it was blended, to be honest it looked like creamy yellowness and I didn't honestly like the look of it but hey ho, lets give it a chance eh? Was it good? It certainly was, I was also quite sur

Jamie Oliver's Empire Roast Chicken

Empire Roast Chicken with Bombay Roast Potatoes and Amazing Indian Gravy Recipe Book: Jamie Olivers Jamie's Great Britain - Buy this book   Link to the Recipe Review:  🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟  Wow! Off the blooming charts is this recipe as it is that good! Think a great roast chicken plus your favourite curry sauce combined! Now, the actual recipe is a bit ambiguous in places in my opinion. When making the marinade it states 2 lemons, I took this to be the juice of 2 lemons as it wasn't stated and in the Bombay style potatoes it states to use 1 lemon, but I've no idea where! I'm guessing to serve with the potatoes. I did a couple of substitutions as I'm fed up of my hands stinking of garlic and mistakenly rubbing my eyes after chopping chilli (yes I do actually do this!!! quite regularly too) so in the marinade I used 1 tbsp Garlic Purée, 1 tbsp Ginger puree and 1 tbsp very lazy chopped chillis. In the Bombay potatoes I substituted 1 fresh red chilli w
